History of Mero Mero no Mi

Mero Mero no Mi Devil Fruit in One Piece (3)

When they were slaves, the Gorgon Sisters were forces fed devil fruits as a form of entertainment. Boa Hancock was fed the Mero Mero Devil Fruit at that time. As they were ashamed of this, the Sisters told the people of the Kuja Tribe that they were cursed with these powers as they were successful in slaying a monster called Gorgon.

Appearance of Mero Mero no Mi

The Mero Mero Devil Fruit is orange in color and when it glows it forms a pink heart which justifies the power of the fruit. It also has a lot of squabbles on it.

Strengths and weaknesses

The strength of this devil fruit is shown by Boa Hancock where the user is able to transform those who have lust or love for the user into stone. Once the victims get turned into stone they lose consciousness and are susceptible to damage unless and until they have been de-petrified.

The enemy can be turned to stone by getting physically hit and any nonliving thing can also be turned to stone.

The power of the fruit can cause anyone to fall for the user and as Hancock is really beautiful it takes her little effort in capturing men than women. According to Hancock, if the current user of the devil fruit is killed then the fruit doesn't undo any petrification that has been done which makes the effect permanent.

As the devil fruit's power depends on the use of lust of the user's victim to be turned into stone so if the person in front doesn't have lust for the user then their power is nullified. They can also be distracted by different emotions like pain, fear etc.

Usage

Hancock uses her devil fruit powers to turn her enemies into stone. The story that she and her sisters told the Kuja Tribe is that she and her sisters killed a Gorgon and were cursed with these powers. The Gorgon gave the Sisters a set of eyes on their backs and if anyone sees their backs they will turn into stone. They told them this lie as they were too ashamed to reveal that they were the slaves of the Celestial Dragons.

Even without her devil fruit powers, Hancock has great physical strength and can engage in hand-to-hand combat. In addition, when she strikes her opponent, she can turn that thing into stone and the opponent doesn't necessarily need to lust for her.

Techniques

The techniques used by Boa Hancock are:

Mero Mero Mello

This is Hancock’s signature technique in which she forms a heart with her hands and fires a heart-shaped beam from them. So anyone who has Impure and lustful thoughts will be turned into stone and the affected person's body can be destroyed.

Mezameyo

In this technique, Hancock blows a kiss towards her target which was turned into stone and those small hearts wash over them and they get restored into their original state.

Pistol Kiss

In this technique, Hancock is able to blow a kiss in a projectile motion which creates a heart shaped bullet to fire at her victims by aiming it with her index finger which she combines with her Busoshoku to hurt the enemy.

Slave Arrow

In this technique, Hancock breathes deeply and then blows out a kiss in the shape of a heart like her Pistol Kiss but in a much bigger form. She then takes the heart back into her hand and then shoots it in the form of hundreds of arrows and a barrage of these attacks are sent towards the enemies and it's impossible to avoid it.

Perfume Femur

In this technique, Hancock does a handstand and spins around in order to deliver a series of kicks. Whatever she hits instantly turns into stone and then breaks from the force of her kicks. Only the area she is in contact gets turned into stone and not the whole body.
